Coldtill vs Coinbase Commerce (now Coinbase Business)
Coinbase Commerce used to let merchants take crypto into their own wallets with no business verification. That's gone. Coinbase shut the Commerce portal on 31 March 2026 and moved merchants to Coinbase Business: a custodial account, open only to registered companies in the US and Singapore, that takes USDC and USDT on a handful of networks.
If you were a Coinbase Commerce merchant, Coldtill gives you back what you had: payments straight into your own wallets, no KYB, and far more coins.

What changed, in Coinbase's words
Coinbase Commerce offered self-custody of "hundreds of assets" with "no KYB". Coinbase Business is "custodial only", and payments settle in USDC that Coinbase holds until you withdraw. Merchants outside the US and Singapore were told to find another provider before the shutdown.
Coinbase's user agreement lets it "suspend, restrict, or terminate… with immediate effect for any reason at its sole discretion" and it is "under no obligation to disclose the details". After a closure you get 90 days to move your funds, unless sanctions or a court order stop you. Its prohibited use policy bans "high risk businesses".
Why Coldtill can't freeze you
Coldtill is software, not a service. Customers pay into deposit addresses that belong to you: on Ethereum-style chains, Tron and Solana they're contracts that can only ever send to your cold wallet, and Bitcoin goes straight to your own wallet's addresses. There's no custody, no account and no country list.
You still get paid in dollars if you want: auto-convert takes 200+ coins and delivers USDC or USDT to your own wallet, so your books stay in dollars. One thing no gateway can change: Tether and Circle can freeze USDT and USDC at the token level.
Where Coinbase Business is stronger
- Coinbase's brand and a direct route from USDC to a US bank account.
- Gasless USDC payments on Base for customers.
- Nothing to run.
Which should you choose?
Choose Coinbase Business if you're a registered US or Singapore company that only needs USDC and wants it next to a Coinbase account.
Choose Coldtill if you're anywhere else, want to take more than two stablecoins, or want the self-custody and no-KYB setup Coinbase Commerce used to offer. Download Coldtill free.
