Coldtill vs Stripe stablecoin payments
Stripe now lets merchants accept stablecoins. It's convenient if you already use Stripe, but it's still Stripe: a full business verification, a narrow list of coins, payments converted to fiat in your Stripe balance, and an account that can be paused or closed. Coldtill is software you run yourself, so none of that applies.
The short answer: Stripe stablecoin payments suit an established US business with a Stripe account that only needs USDC. Coldtill suits anyone who wants to take crypto without asking permission, keep the money in their own wallet and take far more than one coin.
Side by side
| Coldtill | Stripe stablecoin payments | |

| Business verification | None | Full KYB: tax ID, representative and beneficial owners |
| Coins | 200+ coins on 35+ chains, including BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, USDT and USDC | USDC on Tempo, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Base; USDP and USDG for US merchants |
| USDT | Yes, on six chains including Tron | No |
| Where the money goes | Your own cold wallet, through deposit contracts that can only pay you | Converted by a third party (Paxos or Bridge) and settled to your Stripe balance in local currency |
| Can it be held or your account closed | No. There's no account | Yes: reserves "under Stripe's sole control", payouts paused for 120 days under its risk policy, accounts closed "at any time" |
| Fees | Free (2%), Standard $499 once (1%), Pro $999 once (no fee); no fee on Bitcoin or auto-converted payments | 1.5% of every payment |

In Stripe's own words
From the Stripe Services Agreement and related terms:
- Stripe may "immediately suspend" service if it believes your business "presents an unacceptable risk to Stripe" (§10.1), and "may terminate this Agreement or close User's Stripe Account at any time".
- "Stripe has sole control over the Reserve" and releases it only once "Stripe is satisfied that the relevant risk exposure has been mitigated" (services terms §3.3).
- Under its unacceptable risk policy, Stripe "will typically restrict or pause payouts… for 120 days".
- Its restricted businesses list prohibits adult content, gambling, crypto mining and staking and more, and crypto exchanges and wallets need its sales team's approval.
Stablecoin payments can't be reversed and don't support disputes, so there are no chargebacks, yet the same account, reserve and payout rules apply.
Why Coldtill can't freeze you
Coldtill is software, not a service. Customers pay into deposit addresses that belong to you: on Ethereum-style chains, Tron and Solana they're contracts that can only ever send to your cold wallet, and Bitcoin goes straight to your own wallet's addresses. No reserve, no payout schedule, no risk team and no restricted businesses list.
You still get dollars: auto-convert takes 200+ coins and delivers USDC or USDT to your own wallet, so every sale is recorded at its dollar value and your books stay simple. One thing no gateway can change: Tether and Circle can freeze USDT and USDC at the token level.
Where Stripe is stronger
- One dashboard for cards and stablecoins, if you already use Stripe.
- Fiat in your bank without touching crypto yourself.
- Nothing to run.
Which should you choose?
Choose Stripe if you're a verified US business that already uses Stripe and only needs USDC turned into dollars.
Choose Coldtill if you're outside Stripe's countries, in an industry Stripe won't serve, want USDT or any of 200+ coins, or simply want your money in your own wallet with no one able to pause it. Download Coldtill free.
